Sailing Companion is intended as a complementary tool for logging trips, recording GPS tracks and reminding the operator about anchor drift. It is not a certified navigation device, not a replacement for marine charts, paper backups, official electronic chart systems, AIS, or the prudence of a competent skipper.

Decisions related to navigation, route planning, collision avoidance, weather assessment and the safety of crew and vessel remain the sole responsibility of the skipper and the crew. Always operate your vessel in accordance with international and local maritime regulations (COLREGs, SOLAS, national rules) and the manufacturer's recommendations of your boat and its safety equipment.

Anchor Alarm

The anchor alarm depends on continuous GPS reception, an active iOS background environment, sufficient battery, and the integrity of the device's audio system. None of these can be guaranteed at all times. Do not rely on the anchor alarm as the only safeguard while at anchor. Always set a proper watch and double-check ground tackle.

Data accuracy

GPS data, compass readings, distances and derived calculations are provided "as is" and may be subject to error, drift or environmental interference. No warranty is given regarding the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of the data displayed by the app.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the provider of Sailing Companion shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with the use or inability to use the app, including but not limited to damages to vessels, equipment, property or persons.
